reblogging this again because it SHOULD cost money we SHOULD be pouring tax dollars into it and sending letters should be FREE and packages should be LOW COST and FAST because we SUBSIDIZE with community money.

I swear to God there’s a whole swath of people in the US who will not REST until we’re all charged by the minute for the water we drink, the air we breathe, and every blink we take.

Stop coming for the USPS. Not only is it self-funded as mentioned above, but “it’s not profitable” should NEVER be an argument against services that support basic needs. We should be working toward making things like public transit, healthcare, utilities, etc. entirely free-to-use via government funding, not arguing to whittle things down for not being Amazon-esque-enough.

The Economist can eat my ass.

I’ve seen this before, but it’s been years and it just came across my Twitter in its dying days. The words are from a favorite author of mine, Maggie Stiefvater, and they are the words I most need to hear when it comes to dealing with chronic pain and illness. I didn’t need this the first time I saw it, six years ago. I need it now. Maybe you do, too.

found a source for this text. here’s what it says, for those who can’t see the images:

a very wise woman gave me a piece of advice. She told me to start a journal. In the morning, she said, write down the percentage that I felt I was that day. 20% Maggie. 90% Maggie. Then I should write down what I accomplished that day.

I thought at this point she was going to tell me to admire how much I’d gotten done each day despite being ill. I didn’t want that; I didn’t need a pep talk. I needed my brain.

But that wasn’t what she said. She told me: write down what you’ve managed to do on a 20% day, what you’ve managed to do on a 40% day. Eventually you’ll have a guide so when you wake up and you’re at 20%, you won’t try to do the things you do on a 40% day. You’ll know you can just go watch a movie or sit with your goats or whatever and not feel guilty, because you were never going to write words you could keep or be able to exercise or whatever.

And that was the right way.

It meant I no longer labored for 12 hours each day, doing nothing but trying to smash my way through a draft. Instead I slowly began to write bits and bobs in on my good days. A funny thing happened then: once I was not spending every second forcing myself to do things I couldn’t, I found I had enough energy to actually start to work on myself. To look for patterns in my good and bad days. To research healthcare providers and new studies on what was wrong with me still. Slowly I found I was able to chain more of the 60% days together, then 80% days. Slowly I began to realize that although it was taking months, I was improving overall.

Considering WB is doing almost nothing to promote DC’s Blue Beetle after three back-to-back-to-back box office failures, let this post be a reminder that Blue Beetle is just over a month away!!

If you want to know why you should support this upcoming DC movie, here’s why:
• Blue Beetle is the first live action Latino superhero film
• The film stars Cobra Kai’s Xolo Maridueña as Jaime Reyes, Singer and Actress Becky G as the voice of the Scarab and George Lopez as Jaime’s crazy uncle Rudy.
• Blue Beetle is the first character in DC Studios’ DCU timeline, as confirmed by DC Studios Co-Owner James Gunn
• As stated above, Blue Beetle is part of the DCU world filled with superheroes. However, and thankfully, the past DCEU films are not relevant at all to Blue Beetle – as confirmed by the movie’s director Angel Manuel Soto.
• Blue Beetle was made as “the first act of a saga” and is currently planned to have a trilogy, assuming the first film does well.
• The Hollywood Reporter’s sources believe that if Blue Beetle does do well and if it ends up getting a positive reception, Xolo Mariduena’s Blue Beetle can end up appearing in the upcoming Booster Gold show.

Support DC’s Blue Beetle, y'all.
